    The fourth game of the “12 games in a year” challenge I had set for myself is inspired by Portal. I wanted to focus on puzzle design for this project and came up with a gun that would create zip lines between two points. The player could use this zipline to get across holes or to connect power sources to moveable platforms. I created a small set of puzzles to test out the various ideas and although the ideas were fine, the mechanic proved to be quite limiting. For example, I struggled to find a way for the player to naturally ascend instead of going downwards with gravity all the time. The feel of the zip lines was also very difficult to get right. In the end, the existing puzzles are fine but I don’t see a lot of room to expand on the main mechanic.
